Doha, October 25 (QNA) - Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) Omar Rekkache said Qatar-Algeria economic cooperation is growing out of the brotherly ties between the two countries, providing a cornerstone for substantially bolstering investment and opening up plenty of opportunities for deeper economic engagement.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the 9th World Investment Forum 2026, Rekkache said the two countries' robust economic cooperation reflects the bonds of fraternity between their peoples, pointing to promising investment opportunities and a genuine desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation and take it to new heights.
Rekkache cited Baladna's powdered milk production project in Algeria as one of the foremost examples of investment cooperation between the two countries. Valued at more than USD 3.5 billion, the project ranks among the major, structurally significant investments. He added that the company is studying another project currently under preparation.
The Algerian official lauded Qatar's organization and hosting of the 9th World Investment Forum 2026, held in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) under the theme "Investing in the Future".
He said Qatar's hosting of the event underscores its substantial expertise in organizing major international conferences and events, further bolstering its standing as a hub for global forums that bring together decision-makers, investors and experts from around the world.
Such gatherings provide opportunities to strengthen engagement, exchange expertise and explore new prospects, he added.
Rekkache said Algeria's participation in the forum aims to showcase the country's economic potential and investment opportunities, acquaint partners from around the world with its competitive advantages, and attract further investment to benefit the Algerian economy.
He added that the forum offers an opportunity to strengthen engagement with international investors and partners, spotlight investment opportunities in Algeria, and advance efforts to attract investment and bolster the country's presence on the global investment map.
Concluding his remarks, Rekkache urged Qatari investors to explore Algeria's promising investment opportunities, leverage the country's economic assets and consider new projects that could further strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries, serve their mutual interests and consolidate bilateral ties.
