The speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani during the 54th annual session of the Qatari Shura Council represents a clear roadmap for the future of the national economy, the role of the private sector, and the state’s steadfast positions on national, regional, and humanitarian issues.
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani applauded His Highness the Amir’s speech, which he delivered during the opening of the first ordinary session of the second legislative term, corresponding to the council’s session yesterday.
“We highly appreciate His Highness’s emphasis on supporting the private sector, enhancing the business environment, and opening new horizons for local and foreign investment. This inspires us at Qatar Chamber to continue our efforts to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors in driving economic development,” Sheikh Khalifa emphasised.
Sheikh Khalifa noted that His Highness the Amir reaffirmed the country’s commitment to diversifying the economy and reinforcing the role of the private sector as a key driver of growth. He added that this approach is a positive indication that Qatar possesses the capabilities to become an attractive investment hub and to invest in the potential of its citizens and entrepreneurs.
He also said the speech was a clear call for collective action and an incentive for all sectors to intensify their efforts toward building a diversified and sustainable economy, fulfilling society’s aspirations in health, education, and quality of life. He pointed out that Qatar is confidently advancing toward comprehensive development, and that the Amir’s address laid out clear guidelines for empowering the private sector and increasing its contribution to the national economy.
Sheikh Khalifa highlighted His Highness the Amir’s emphasis on promoting transparency and good governance in projects and investments, facilitating procedures for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to access markets, and supporting innovation and digital transformation in line with global economic trends.
He noted that the speech addressed the development of the healthcare system, the expansion of infrastructure, and the enhancement of national capabilities in this vital sector. Sheikh Khalifa said, “We in the private sector view this direction as an opportunity to forge partnerships in healthcare services, medical technology industries, and high-quality care solutions.”
Sheikh Khalifa said His Highness the Amir clearly expressed Qatar’s firm and principled stance on Gaza and the Palestinian cause, reflecting a moral and political commitment that Qatar upholds with clarity and consistency.
The state’s solidarity with its brothers is not merely a political position; it is a humanitarian and ethical message that should be embodied through real investment and economic cooperation, contributing to reconstruction and advancing development in Palestine, he pointed out.
