Aqarat: Qatar Makes Progress in 2026 Global Real Estate Transparency Index

Qatar advances in global real estate transparency ranking

Qatar has made further progress in global real estate market transparency, climbing to 63rd place among 88 markets in the 2026 Global Real Estate Transparency Index (GRETI) released by global real estate consultancy JLL, compared with 68th in the 2024 edition.

The improvement places Qatar among the 10 most improved real estate markets globally in the 2026 index, highlighting continued progress in the availability of market information, data transparency and the development of the country’s real estate regulatory framework.

Qatar’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat), in a post on its X account, said the latest ranking reflects notable progress across Gulf markets and pointed to improvements in the availability and transparency of real estate data.

The authority said the progress is supported by ongoing efforts by Qatar and Aqarat to strengthen the regulatory environment, enhance transparency and develop a more efficient and integrated real estate ecosystem.

Greater transparency and access to reliable market data are expected to contribute to a more informed and efficient real estate market, while strengthening investor confidence and supporting Qatar’s position as an attractive destination for real estate investment.

Aqarat’s efforts are also focused on establishing a regulatory framework that supports sustainable growth in the sector and improves market practices, helping create greater clarity for investors, developers, property owners and other market participants.

The improvement in Qatar’s GRETI ranking comes as the country continues to develop its real estate sector and strengthen the institutional and regulatory infrastructure underpinning the market. Enhancing transparency remains an important element in supporting sustainable investment and long-term sector development.

The Global Real Estate Transparency Index, published by JLL, is widely used by investors, financial institutions, policymakers and other real estate stakeholders to assess the transparency of property markets worldwide.

The index evaluates markets across a range of factors, including the availability and quality of real estate data, market fundamentals, regulatory and legal frameworks, transaction processes and other aspects that influence the transparency of real estate investment and operations.

Qatar’s move from 68th in 2024 to 63rd in 2026 therefore represents continued progress in the country’s efforts to improve real estate transparency and market efficiency, while reinforcing the authorities’ focus on creating a more transparent, competitive and sustainable property sector.
