Bahrain Bourse Rolls Out $106mln Market Fund To Boost Liquidity

Bahrain Bourse has partnered with Mumtalakat, Osool Asset Management, BBK, and NBB to launch a BD40 million Market Making Fund aimed at boosting stock market liquidity and trading efficiency.

Announced at Gateway Gulf 2026 in the presence of Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, the fund will be managed by Al Ramz Capital under Bahrain Bourse’s ‘Elevate’ 2026–2028 capital market strategy. The initiative will provide dedicated liquidity for key listed securities to narrow bid-ask spreads, improve price discovery, and support Bahrain’s readiness for global index inclusion.

Bahrain Bourse chief executive Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa highlighted the initiative’s strategic role, stating that enhancing liquidity is central to building a deeper, more competitive capital market that drives long-term economic growth.

Mumtalakat chief executive officer Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa affirmed that the sovereign wealth fund’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to deepening Bahrain’s financial markets and driving sustainable economic development.

Osool Asset Management chief executive officer Abdulla Kamal noted that the collaborative fund creates a more liquid and efficient investment environment, securing long-term value and sustainable returns for pension and social insurance funds.

BBK Group chief executive Yaser Alsharifi emphasised that liquid markets are fundamental to attracting foreign investment, describing the fund as a bold step towards building a globally competitive financial hub in line with Vision 2030.

NBB Group chief executive Usman Ahmed added that greater liquidity builds investor confidence, noting NBB’s role as both a listed firm and seed investor in supporting the kingdom’s broader market development goals.
