Doha Bank Wins ‘Best Retail Bank’ and ‘Best for Remittances’ at MEED Awards 2026

Doha Bank continues to set industry benchmarks, winning two prominent titles at the MEED MENA Banking Excellence Awards. The bank was awarded ‘Best Retail Bank’ and ‘Best For Remittances’, underscoring its continuous commitment to digital innovation and customer-centric financial solutions.

The ‘Best Retail Bank’ award highlights Doha Bank’s successful execution of a retail strategy firmly focused on customer experience and digital enablement. Over the past year, the Bank modernised its mobile platform to seamlessly introduce end-to-end onboarding for new-to-bank customers, leveraging digital KYC and biometric verification.

This drive toward a low-friction digital experience resulted in an increase of active digital banking users and propelled the annual card spend past QR6 billion for the first time in the bank’s history.

Securing the ‘Best For Remittances’ title recognises the bank’s launch of a unified digital remittance platform across its mobile and online channels. Designed to serve Qatar’s diverse population, the platform offers fast and secure cross-border payments to over 80 corridors.

Further distinguishing its offering, Doha Bank became the first bank in Qatar to launch Mastercard Move, enabling faster, lower-fee transfers straight from its digital platforms.

Commenting on the recognition, Doha Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani said, “These prestigious awards from MEED are a testament to our relentless drive to simplify and elevate the banking experience.

From pioneering seamless digital onboarding to providing instant, affordable international transfers, our goal is to deliver practical, secure, and innovative solutions. We are proud of these recognitions and remain committed to supporting the financial aspirations of our community in Qatar.”
