Doha, October 26 (QNA) - Doha Investment, a specialized investment company established to accelerate the next phase of Qatar's economic growth, has increased the size of its Active Asset Management Initiative to QR 5 billion from QR 2.6 billion.
The increase will support the initiative's expansion, strengthen its ability to achieve its long-term objectives, broaden participation by investment institutions and attract more qualified asset managers, the company said in a statement. It will also contribute to the development of Qatar's capital markets and asset management sector, enhancing the competitiveness of the investment ecosystem and supporting its sustainable growth.
HE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Doha Investment, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, said the initiative had attracted a growing number of local and international asset managers and participants since its launch in Qatar in 2024, reflecting the promising investment opportunities in the Qatari stock market.
Doha Investment is committed to developing Qatar's asset management ecosystem and capital markets, recognizing the importance of advancing this integrated system to accelerate the next phase of the country's economic growth, His Excellency said.
The additional investment would help stimulate the market, increase its diversity and strengthen cooperation among leading asset managers, His Excellency added.
The Active Asset Management Initiative in Qatar was launched by the Qatar Investment Authority in 2024 and is built on partnerships with local and international asset managers with extensive experience in Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Since its launch, the initiative has deployed QR 2.6 billion in investments and currently includes four specialized asset management firms: Ashmore Group, Fiera Capital, Franklin Templeton and Lesha Bank. The initiative plans to continue expanding its participant base by regularly bringing in new asset managers from Qatar and abroad. (QNA)
