Electronic Testing for Sweetened Drinks Mandatory via Dhareeba from Nov 1

Doha, September 07 (QNA) - The General Tax Authority (GTA) announced that it will approve analysis certificates for sweetened drink registrations electronically via the Dhareeba platform starting November 1, 2026. The platform will integrate directly with Ministry of Public Health-accredited and GTA-registered labs, removing the need for manual attachments.
Under the new procedures, GTA said in a statement Monday, taxpayers submit product registrations on Dhareeba, then deliver samples to accredited labs for testing. Upon lab approval, test results and certificates automatically sync back to the Dhareeba platform.
Direct electronic integration streams test results and certificates straight into Dhareeba, cutting manual processing, increasing accuracy, and streamlining product registration.
Timed with the expanded excise tax on sweetened drinks, this step supports the General Tax Authority's strategy to enhance digital services and inter-agency connectivity. (QNA)
