Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced it is pressing ahead with the strategic Basra-Haditha pipeline project to secure alternative oil export routes amid rising regional instability and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry warned that relying solely on southern export terminals has become a strategic risk following escalating military tensions and recent shipping disruptions in the Gulf.
Officials said the pipeline will eventually extend toward Aqaba and Baniyas, giving Iraq broader access to global markets through multiple corridors and strengthening the country’s energy security against future regional shocks.
