Promoting trade between Thailand and Qatar, Lulu Hypermarket has launched ‘Thai Halal Products In-store Promotion’ across its outlets in Qatar.
As part of the week-long promotion, over 1,000 food products from Thailand are available at attractive prices for in-store and online customers at Lulu stores in Qatar.
Ambassador of Thailand to Qatar HE Nathapol Khantahiran together with Lulu Group International Director Dr Mohamed Althaf inaugurated the ‘Thai Halal Products In-store Promotion in Qatar’ at Lulu Hypermarket’s Al Gharrafa branch on Thursday.
Jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, the Office of Commercial Affairs in Tehran under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and Lulu Hypermarket, the opening ceremony saw the presence of all ASEAN ambassadors in Doha and other dignitaries from various sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, the envoy of Thailand said, “As one of the world’s top food exporters and leading Halal food producers, we are very pleased to introduce the finesse of Thai halal products in Qatar. Thai food products are best known for being healthy and nutritious yet offering uniquely flavourful taste and finest quality.”
As such, the envoy said, Thailand has positioned itself as the ‘Kitchen of the World’ and has been offering a wide variety of Halal products including fresh fruits and vegetables, beverages, snacks and healthy food.
“Thai Halal product promotion across Lulu outlets in Qatar is vital in opening greater access for consumers to purchase Thai products more conveniently. The Lulu Group is our most trusted and long-time trade partner and has played an active role in promoting Thailand and Thai products in Qatar,” the envoy said.
“Customers can now shop for Thai ingredients and other products readily available in Lulu outlets and easily create their own dishes with the authentic and amazing taste of Thai cuisine. We also hope to expand trade cooperation with Qatar both in terms of volume and value to increase more imports from Thailand,” he said.
“Lulu has played an important part in Thailand and Qatar’s relations, not only in trade but also in bringing Thai products and brands to Qatar as well,” he said.
Highlighting that the ongoing pandemic has led consumers around the world to be more concerned about their health and well-being, he said, “Thai halal food industry has adopted COVID-19 prevention best practice to ensure that halal food manufacturers, producers and exporters conform to international safety standards for hygienic and sanitary food production.”
Featuring a wide range of Thai products, the envoy said, the Lulu Group’s initiative will go a long way in promoting trade between Thailand and Qatar through food, culture, and tourism.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, Althaf said, “Lulu Hypermarket has been holding Thai food promotions for the last 18 years. Lulu has contributed greatly to making Thai food, fruits and vegetables popular in Qatar in collaboration with the Thai Trade Commission that promotes Thai products in the country.”
“We have our own offices in Thailand. The country is known as the kitchen of the world. It is famous in producing very high-quality food products and known for food innovation,” Althaf said.
Highlighting that the ongoing promotion is focusing on halal linkage of Thai foods, he said, “Halal Standards Institute of Thailand (HSIT) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand is well-known for testing products for halal certification and traceability testing. Thailand has very strong certification system for halal and other safety standards.”
Althaf said that over 1,000 food products are being showcased as part of the promotion.
“Many non-food items are also being exhibited. Thailand is one of the largest food exporters in Asia. Thai products have great demand in Qatar and other parts of the world,” Althaf said.
Thanks to Lulu Group’s promotion for the last two decades, Thai food products have gained wide popularity among all communities across the region.
As one of the world’s top agricultural and food exporters and one of the leading Halal food producers, Thailand prioritises food security and safety by utilising advanced technology and innovation to enhance productivity and promote high-quality agricultural and food products.
The Thai halal food promotion, which has been running in all Lulu Hypermarket outlets in Qatar especially D-Ring Road, Al Messila, Al Gharafa, and Al Khor Mall branches from September 16, will continue until September 20 this year.
