Microsoft Introduces New AI Features to Its ‘Copilot’

Microsoft has unveiled cutting-edge AI features to its AI assistant, Copilot, marking its 50th anniversary by turning Copilot into a deeply personalized companion for users.

The tech company aims to make Copilot uniquely tailored to each user, adapting to their specific needs, values, and expectations.

Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft’s AI division, stated that, “That’s why ultimately, there will be as many different Copilots as there are people using them. Today, we are embarking on the journey to take Copilot from an AI companion to your AI companion.”

The newly introduced AI features include Deep Research, Podcasts and others. With Deep Research feature, Copilot can efficiently carry out complex, multi-step research tasks. This  enables the AI to search, analyze, and synthesize information from a diverse array of sources available on online and from vast document collections, streamlining research process.

Another striking capability lies in its enhanced memory, enabling Copilot to recall user-specific details and preferences. This advancement ensures that the AI provide more tailored assistance, such as personalized recommendations and proactive task management.

Users also have the option to manage and delete their stored information, ensuring privacy, security and flexibility in managing their information.

Additionally, the company has brought back personalization elements, including Clippy, along with customization options to align Copilot’s appearance and interaction style with  users’ preferences.

“With Actions, Copilot can now partner with you to complete tasks behind the scenes. Use simple chat prompts to ask Copilot to book event tickets, grab dinner reservations or more. Copilot Actions will work with most websites across the web, and we’re particularly excited to highlight our launch partners: 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, Expedia, Kayak, OpenTable, Priceline, Tripadvisor, Skyscanner, Viator and Vrbo,” added Suleyman.

Furthermore, Copilot now enables users to generate AI-powered podcasts that create and deliver personalized audio content based on their interests. The AI assistant can generate a personalized podcast to analyze and compare two options or explain the topic from provided content. Users can also interact while listening to learn more and make the conversations interesting.
