Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani held a meeting with representatives of the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), as part of the Ministry’s ongoing engagement with Qatar’s business community and efforts to strengthen cooperation with the private sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Minister and business leaders to exchange views on key issues shaping Qatar’s commercial and investment landscape, with discussions focusing on future plans, private-sector priorities, challenges facing businesses and proposals to further improve the country’s business environment.
During the meeting, the minister listened to the views, observations and proposals put forward by QBA representatives on a range of matters related to commercial and investment activities. The discussions covered issues affecting businesses across different sectors, as well as possible measures to facilitate business operations, streamline government procedures and improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to the private sector.
The participants also explored ways to create conditions that are more conducive to business growth, investment and expansion, with particular attention to enhancing the ease of doing business and supporting companies as they respond to changing market conditions.
He reaffirmed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s commitment to supporting and empowering the private sector as a key partner in Qatar’s sustainable economic development. He stressed the importance of maintaining direct and continuous communication with business leaders and listening to their experiences and proposals in order to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
The Minister noted that constructive engagement with the business community contributes to the continuous improvement of policies, regulations and procedures. Such dialogue, he said, can help enhance government efficiency, improve the business environment and strengthen the competitiveness of Qatar’s economy.
The meeting also reviewed major economic and commercial developments influencing the business environment and discussed the Ministry’s future plans and initiatives aimed at supporting the private sector.
The discussions covered the importance of ensuring that the private sector remains well positioned to respond to economic and market developments, seize emerging opportunities and expand its contribution to Qatar’s economic diversification. Strengthening the ability of local businesses to grow and compete was also highlighted as an important element of the country’s broader economic development agenda.
The engagement comes at a time when Qatar continues to advance initiatives aimed at creating a more attractive and competitive environment for investment and private-sector activity. Regular consultations between the government and business community are intended to ensure that the concerns and priorities of companies are reflected in the continued development of the country’s commercial and economic policies.
The Ministry’s engagement with the QBA also underscores the importance of public-private partnership in supporting investment, encouraging entrepreneurship and facilitating the expansion of businesses operatingin Qatar.
The meeting forms part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s broader efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy and consolidate its partnership with the private sector.
These efforts are aligned with the objectives of Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly the drive to build a diversified, competitive and knowledge-based economy supported by a strong and dynamic private sector.
