MOCI, QDB Organize Workshop to Enhance Investment Environment

Doha, August 02 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) organized a workshop entitled 'foreign investment and partnerships in Qatari companies: the legal framework and best practices,' with the participation of a number of representatives of the private sector, investors, entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized companies based in Qatar.

In a statement on Sunday, the MOCI emphasized that this workshop comes within the framework of its efforts and those of QDB aimed at enhancing the investment environment, developing various commercial and industrial sectors and developing businesses, by raising awareness of commercial legislation, and introducing the private sector to the procedures required for partnerships, which contributes to creating an environment that stimulates business growth and attracts investments, and enhances the diversity, competitiveness and sustainability of the national economy.

The statement added that the workshop addressed a number of specialized topics, including reviewing the key legal and regulatory aspects related to foreign investment and commercial partnerships in the State of Qatar, discussing the mechanisms and procedures related to the participation of the foreign partner in Qatari companies, in addition to defining the rights and obligations of the partners, in accordance with the applicable regulations and legislation, with the aim of building successful and sustainable investment partnerships.

The workshop included a discussion session during which views were exchanged and the key observations and legal challenges that the private sector may face were discussed, in order to help it avoid risks and enable it to build effective business partnerships that open up opportunities for growth and development, which contributes to the sustainability of the economy and increases its competitiveness, and opens the way to access new markets, whether at the local or international level.
