Some stocks attract attention because of their fundamentals. Others stand out because of how actively
they are traded.
This chart highlights the latter: the companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange with the highest monthly
turnover ratios.
A turnover ratio shows how often a company’s shares change hands relative to its total market value.
The higher the ratio, the more actively the stock is being traded. It does not indicate whether the trading
is positive or negative; it simply reflects liquidity and investor activity.
Based on the latest monthly figures, Qatar German (QGMD) leads with a turnover ratio of 120 percent,
meaning its shares traded an amount equivalent to its market cap during the month.
Al Faleh (FALH) follows at 47 percent, while Qatar Oman Investment (QOIS), Mazaya (MRDS), and
Widam (WDAM) fall in the 18 to 22 percent range.
For investors, understanding turnover helps in two ways. First, it provides a sense of a stock’s
liquidity—how easy it might be to enter or exit a position.
Second, it offers context for interpreting price movements. A price swing on low turnover can mean
something very different from a similar move on high turnover.
Turnover does not tell the whole story, but it is a useful lens when evaluating market activity on the
QSE.
