Qatar Chamber Keen To Build Bridges of Trade and Economic Cooperation With African Nations

Mohamed bin Twar al-Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, met with a delegation from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), headed by Hanan Morsy, Deputy Executive Secretary and Chief Economist.

The meeting was attended by Sheikha Tamader al-Thani, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Qatar and Director of the International Relations and Chamber Affairs Department at the Qatar Chamber.

Discussions focused on prospects for cooperation, particularly in promoting investments from the region into the African continent, which offers vast opportunities that require greater awareness and well-structured investment strategies.

The meeting also addressed the challenges facing investors in African countries, ways to overcome them, and the risks that may hinder global investments in the continent.

It further explored the proposal for Qatar to become a regional hub for investment in Africa, serving as a key gateway for regional investors seeking to channel their investments into African markets.

The proposal received strong support from the Qatar Chamber, which affirmed its commitment to studying suitable mechanisms to bring this initiative to fruition.

The chamber also reiterated its keenness to build bridges of trade and economic cooperation with African nations and to support initiatives that contribute to sustainable development across the continent.
