DOHA: Qatar is strengthening its position as a hub for trade, investment, and tourism, offering attractive incentives and untapped opportunities for international partners. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and economic diversification, the country is expanding its footprint in Africa, opening new avenues through strategic partnerships facilitated by KON Group (business consultancy firm).
Speaking to The Peninsula, Mohamed Massani, Chairman of KON Group, highlighted the growing opportunities for Qatari companies in Uganda, noting the country’s untapped potential and attractive incentives. “Africa has a lot of potential and opportunity, from business incentives to untapped markets,” Massani said. “We always call on local Qatari companies to join us and collaborate, because the opportunities are immense.”
Highlighting KON Group’s work in the tourism sector, Massani explained that the company focuses on both general and medical tourism. “Many people don’t know that Qatar has some of the best hospitals and medical treatments,” he said.
Qatar’s advanced healthcare facilities and dynamic business environment are creating new avenues for growth, positioning the nation as a key destination for global partnerships and investment. Massani stressed, “We are working with our partners, Doc Medical Center and the American Hospital Clinic, to promote medical tourism, bringing people from Uganda and other African countries to Qatar, while also boosting general tourism.”
The entity maintains a strategic partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Qatar, collaborating across multiple sectors.
The official noted that the company’s projects include facilitating food products, enhancing trade between the two countries, and pioneering an animal waste recycling initiative in Uganda. “Our animal waste recycling project is progressing very well, and the incentives are excellent,” he said.
Massani also emphasised that these efforts are part of a broader vision to strengthen bilateral ties. “We aim to create sustainable partnerships that benefit both Qatar and Africa, encouraging investment, trade, and innovation across multiple sectors,” he added.
Uganda–Qatar Business Forum, which was early this week, underlined Qatar’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral and regional partnerships.
The forum provided a valuable platform for dialogue, networking, and exploring collaborative opportunities across trade, investment, and tourism. It also highlighted Qatar’s dedication to creating sustainable business links and promoting economic diversification in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
By bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, the event reinforced the importance of mutual collaboration, trust, and shared ambitions. Initiatives showcased during the forum signal Qatar’s continued role as a gateway for international business and innovation in the region.
