Qatar Holds SME Workshop on Governance and Compliance

Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Development Bank Hold Governance, Risk Management and Compliance Workshop

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Development Bank held a workshop on governance, risk management and compliance for private-sector representatives, entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners.The session aimed to build awareness of best practices in these areas and their role in supporting sustainable business growth.

It forms part of the two organisations’ efforts to strengthen the investment environment, attract investment and enhance the competitiveness of Qatar’seconomy.

Participants examined how governance, risk management and compliance work together, including the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, accountability mechanisms and sound decision-making. They also learned a practical approach to identifying and assessing risks.

The programme covered the regulatory requirements relevant to SMEs and how businesses can bring governance, risk management and compliance together in a practical framework to improve performance and build sustainable investment partnerships.

The event is part of the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen the performance of the private sector and SMEs, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
