Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company Signs Memorandum of Understanding to Establish a Company for Industrial Salt and Table Salt Production in Qatar

Under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Energy, and in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), Mr. Mohammed Salem Alayan Al-Marri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company, and Mr. Nusret Arjun, Chairman of Atlas Investments, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish a company for salt production in the State of Qatar. The project aims to produce various types of salt from the brine generated by the Umm Al Houl desalination plant. It will provide a safe and environmentally friendly solution for treating the brine produced by the desalination plant, converting it into various industrial salts and table salt. This will ensure a reliable source for the local market and allow for the export of surplus to regional and global markets. This project is an important step for QIMC in contributing to the increased participation of industry in the country's GDP, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 by enhancing economic sustainability, developing local industries, and investing in strategic industrial projects with added value and strategic importance, such as industrial salt. It is important to highlight that Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company was established in 1990, with 20% of its capital owned by the state of Qatar and 80% by the private sector. In a short period, it has become one of the leading companies in the field of small and medium industries in Qatar. The company currently contributes to 21 industrial projects, all in the production phase, across various industrial sectors, including chemical, petrochemical, construction, and food industries, along with several new projects still in the establishment phase.
