Qatar Participates in PAX SILICA Summit in Washington

Doha, June 27 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the Pax Silica Summit, recently held in Washington, D.C., which saw the participation of member states of the Pax Silica initiative.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed represented the State of Qatar at the summit.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a press statement Saturday indicating that the first day of the summit was dedicated to discussing topics related to industry and businesses, while the second day focused on governmental issues and ways to enhance cooperation among member states.

During his participation in the summit, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Trade signed the Joint Statement on Artificial Intelligence Opportunities between the State of Qatar and US. The joint statement serves as an addendum to the Pax Silica Declaration signed in January of this year.

On the margin of the summit, His Excellency held a series of bilateral meetings with several senior officials participating in the summit. He met with HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiyev; HE UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Saeed Al Hajri; HE United States Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jacob Helberg; and HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry for Industrial Development of the Republic of the Philippines, Severino S. Rodolfo; HE Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of the Republic of Singapore, Chng Kai-Fong; Senior Director for Global Supply Chains at the White House, David Copley; and CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation, Ben Black.

The meetings reviewed ways to enhance trade and investment relations; expand horizons for economic cooperation; coordinate policies;discuss opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence; facilitate trade exchange; and support partnerships between business communities to help achieve common interests.

His Excellency also met with a number of representatives from global companies, where they reviewed the investment opportunities offered by the State of Qatar and discussed cooperation opportunities in priority sectors, particularly artificial intelligence, advanced technology, the digital economy, and supply chains.

The State of Qatar and the United States of America signed the "Pax Silica" declaration in January. This strategic step aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of advanced technology and supply chain security, as well as support global economic stability and security. This reinforces the partnership between the two countries and contributes to building a more resilient and sustainable economic ecosystem. (QNA)
