Qatar Showcases Smart, Sustainable Transport Plans at InnoTrans 2026

Qatar highlighted its plans to develop a smart, integrated and sustainable transport system at InnoTrans 2026, the international transport technology exhibition that concluded in Berlin on Friday.

The four-day event brought together more than 3,000 exhibitors from 59 countries, showcasing the latest technologies and solutions across rail technology, railway infrastructure, public transport, vehicle interiors, tunnel construction and smart mobility.

Qatar’s pavilion presented a range of national transport projects and initiatives, highlighting the country’s efforts to develop an advanced and sustainable transport ecosystem in line with the objectives of Qatar NationalVision 2030.

A key focus was the Ministry of Transport’s 2025-2030 strategy, which aims to establish an integrated, safe, flexible and sustainable transport network capable of meeting the country’s future mobility requirements.

The pavilion also showcased Qatar’s strategy for autonomous vehicles, its transition towards electric public buses and the infrastructure programme being implemented to support the electrification of public transport.

Qatar further highlighted its comprehensive public transport plan, which seeks to improve connectivity and integration between different modes of transport, encourage greater use of public transportation, reduce dependence on private vehicles and contribute to lower emissions.

The participation provided an opportunity for Qatar to showcase the development of its transport infrastructure while engaging with international companies and technology providers on emerging solutions for smart mobility, railways and sustainable transportation.

On the closing day of the exhibition, Ministry of Transport Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs Eng. Abdullah Saif Al Sulaiti held separate meetings with representatives of leading international companies participating in InnoTrans 2026.

Al Sulaiti met a Deutsche Bahn delegation headed by its Managing Director for International Markets and Consulting, Stefan Geisperger, as well as a team from Italian National Railways (FS Group) headed by FS International CEO Luigi Corradi. He also held discussions with a delegation from Egis.

The meetings explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in smart and sustainable transportation and railway infrastructure, with discussions focusing on the exchange of expertise, knowledge and best practices and the potential application of the latest technologies in the transport sector.

Qatar’s presence at InnoTrans 2026 underscored its focus on adopting advanced transport technologies and strengthening international partnerships as it works to build a more connected, efficient and environmentally sustainable mobility system.
