QC Addresses Challenges Facing Travel Firms Amid Regional Developments

The Qatar Chamber’s Tourism Committee convened a key meeting on Tuesday, bringing together representatives from travel and tourism companies and agencies operating across the country. The session was chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Thani, chairman of the Tourism Committee and member of the Qatar Chamber Board.

The meeting focused on the challenges confronting travel agencies amid recent regional developments, including disruptions in tourism activity caused by flight cancellations, increasing financial obligations on companies, and the freezing of funds with partners abroad.

Participants highlighted the growing pressure on cash flow and the rising operating costs, which have not been matched by increases in revenue.

In his address, Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed Al Thani reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to identifying the obstacles facing travel and tourism offices and collecting their insights for submission to the relevant authorities to develop effective solutions. He emphasized that a special working group will be established under the Tourism Committee to closely examine the issues affecting travel companies and propose practical measures to support the sector.

Representatives from the industry welcomed the initiative, expressing their appreciation to the Qatar Chamber for convening the meeting and acknowledging the Committee Chairman’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by travel and tourismbusinesses.

The meeting underscores Qatar Chamber’s proactive approach in supporting the tourism sector and ensuring that local travel companies remain resilient amid evolving regional conditions.
