QC, Finland Seek Deeper Business Ties

Qatar Chamber hosted a high-level Finnish business delegation led byJarno Syrjälä, Under-Secretary of State and Deputy Minister for International Trade of Finland. The Qatari side was headed bySheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber.

The meeting was also attended by Abdulrahman bin Abduljaleel Al Abdulghani,Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al-Misnad, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli, and Abdullah Al-Emadi, Qatar Chamber Board Members;Ali Bu Sherbak Al-Mansori, Acting General Manager; and HE Juha Mustonen, Ambassador ofFinland to Qatar.

The Finnish delegation comprised major Finnish companies operating in the fields of defence technology, civil defence, satellite and space technologies, and communications, as well as the state-owned Finnish Industrial Investment Company and the Finnish National Agency for Education, which supports Finnish education companies.

During the meeting, the two sides explored opportunities for cooperation and partnership between Qatari and Finnish companies across a range of sectors, including investment, trade, manufacturing, security technology, artificial intelligence, and other areas of mutual interest.

In his remarks, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim noted the growing interest among Qatari businesspeople and investors in exploring opportunities in Finland, while highlighting the presence of Finnish companies in Qatar through investments and partnerships in sectors including technology, aviation, digitalisation and education.He called on the business communities of both countries to strengthen communication, exchange expertise and pursue partnerships and joint projects, with potential for cooperation in technology, innovation, AI, advanced industries, clean energy, healthcare, food security, logistics and financial services.

For his part, Jarno Syrjälä praised Qatar National Vision 2030 and its objective of building a diversified, knowledge-based and sustainable economy, supported by investment in innovation, human capital and long-term growth. He noted that these priorities align closely with Finland’s strengths in technology, innovation, education, digitalisation and sustainable solutions.He further said there is strong potential to bring together Qatar’s development priorities and Finnish expertise to create practical solutions and mutually beneficial partnerships.

He added that Finland and Qatar have enjoyed longstanding, friendly and constructive relations, identifying digitalisation and technology, energy and the green transition, education and skills development, smart infrastructure, and advanced industrial solutions as promising areas for cooperation.

He also emphasised Finland’s commitment to reliability, transparency, long-term partnerships and meeting its commitments, expressing hope that the meeting would strengthen ties between the two business communities and pave the way for new partnerships, investments and opportunities. Juha Mustonen, Ambassador of Finland to Qatar, commended Qatar Chamber for hosting this important meeting, which brought together a distinguished group of Finnish companies, including ReOrbit, Patria, Nokia, Temet, Verona Shelters and Tesi, among others. He noted that these companies are keen to develop long-term partnerships with Qatari counterparts.
