QC Highlights Growing Pressure on Supply Chains, Transport and Insurance Costs

Qatar Chamber participated in the AIM Congress 2026, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates from 7 to 9 September 2026, with the participation of prominent business leaders, decision-makers, investors, and innovators from more than 180 countries.

Held under the theme “Reshaping Global Prosperity: Unlocking New Investment Pathways Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Future,” the 15th AIM Congress focused on advancing sustainable investment.Its agenda was built around three main themes: Global Markets, Economies of the Future, and Next Generation, featuring high-level panel sessions, workshops, and exhibitions.

The Chamber was represented at the event by Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al-Misnad, Board Member of Qatar Chamber and Chairman of the Qatar Association for Freight Forwarding and Logistics (QAFL), and Ali Bu Sherbak Al-Mansori, QC Acting General Manager.

Al-Misnad also participated in the Roundtable of Presidents of Chambers of Commerce, which discussed the role of chambers in promoting sustainable trade and digital transformation, leveraging artificial intelligence and trade data, supporting SMEs, and strengthening trade and investment cooperation.

Speaking on supply chain resilience, he noted that Qatar and the region have faced significant pressures on supply chains in recent times, ranging from shifting shipping routes and rising freight and insurance costs to delivery delays and supply uncertainties.

“The challenge was how to keep supply chains moving, ensure that businesses and factories continue to operate, and maintain the availability of essential products and materials in the market,” he said.

He highlighted Qatar Chamber’s proactive approach by maintaining close communication with the private sector and coordinating with government entities and Gulf and Arab chambers of commerce to identify challenges and develop solutions and alternatives.

He emphasised that “resilience means having alternatives,” including diversified supply sources and transport routes, as well as maritime, air, and land transport options, the TIR System, and the use of data and artificial intelligence to monitor and address supply chain risks proactively.

Al-Misnad also invited Arab chambers to participate in the FIATA-RAME 2026 Conference, to be held in Doha from 9 to 10 November 2026, organised by Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Federation of GCC Chambers.

Qatar Chamber also participated in the Arab Business Forum, held as part of the congress in cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Union of Arab Chambers, which discussed ways to enhance Arab economici ntegration.
