Qatar’s central bank has issued the country’s first license for an insurance policy price comparison website, marking a further step in its efforts to expand the financial technology (FinTech) sector.
In a post on X, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) said it had granted the license to Ammen, allowing the company to operate insurance price comparison website services in Qatar.
The central bank said the move forms part of its strategy to strengthen the country’s FinTech ecosystem.
With the addition of Ammen, the number of financial technology companies operating under QCB’s supervision and regulatory oversight has risen to 16.
The licensing is expected to improve transparency and competition in Qatar’s insurance market by enabling customers to compare insurance policies, coverage options and pricing through a single digital platform. It also supports the country’s broader digital transformation agenda by making financial services more accessible and customer-centric.
QCB has been steadily expanding its FinTech regulatory framework in recent years, introducing licensing and regulatory sandbox initiatives.
