QCB Issues QR2 Bn Bonds on Behalf of Ministry of Finance

Qatar Central Bank (QCB), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, on Tuesday issued QR2 billion in government bonds after attracting QR5 billion in total bids, highlighting strong investor confidence in Qatar’ssovereign debt.

The bond issuance was allocated across two tap issuances with different maturities. QR1 billion was allocated to bonds maturing on September 3, 2028, carrying a 4.55 percent yield, while another QR1 billion was allocated to bonds maturing on August 24, 2030, at a 4.70 percent yield.

The issuance forms part of the government’s ongoing debt management programme aimed at meeting financing requirements, strengthening the domestic debt market and providing high-quality investment instruments for financial institutions and investors.

The oversubscription of the auction, with bids exceeding the allocated amount by more than two times, underscores continued confidence in Qatar’s economic fundamentals and the country’s stable financial environment.

QCB conducted the bond issuance on behalf of the Ministry of Finance as part of its regular government securities programme, which supports the development of the local capital market while helping establish a benchmark yield curve for the Qatari riyal.
