Doha, Qatar: The shares in Qatar’s stock market witnessed gain in yesterday’s trading as the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) opened on a positive note after Eid Al Adha holidays.
The index surged by over 138 points or 1.31 percent to close at 10,697.10 points helped by strong buying interest from investors.
The index concluded trading on June 4 at 10,558.34 points.
During yesterday’s session the volume of shares traded stood at 234,378 million from 211,060 million in the previous session.
Meanwhile the value of shares reached QR494m as a result of implementing 24,317 deals in all sectors. In the session, the shares of 44 companies rose, while the prices of 12 companies decreased, and one companies maintained their previous closing price.
At the end of the trading session, the market capitalisation reached QR632.040bn, compared to the last trading session, which amounted to QR624.600bn. The indices of seven sectors ended in green zone yesterday.
QSE Total Return Index gained 1.31 percent to 25,235.48, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index added 1.16 percent to 5,078.57 points, MSCI QSE 20ESG Index gained 1.59 percent to 853.88 and QSE All Share Index rose 1.29 percent to 3,950.90 points.
The indices of banks and financial services, industrials, transportation, real estate, insurance, telecoms, and consumer goods and services gained 1.88 percent, 0.47 percent, 0.23 percent, 1.25 percent, 0.75 percent, 0.68 percent and 0.93 percent respectively.
Top gainers in yesterday’s trade were Vodafone Qatar, Qatar Oman for Investment, Damaan Islamic Insurance Company, The Commercial Bank, and Baladna Company rising by 3.7 percent, 3.7 percent, 3.4 percent, 3.1 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.
Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance, Qatar Navigation, Gulf International Services, Qatar Islamic Insurance, and Ooredoo were the top losers, falling 2.6 percent, 1 percent, 0.6 percent, 0.5 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.
The QSE index declined 0.6 percent to close at 10,558.3 on June 4. Losses were led by the Telecoms and Consumer Goods & Services indices, falling 1.6 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.
Top losers were Mannai Corporation and The Commercial Bank, falling 2.7 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. Among the top gainers, Meeza QSTP gained 3.8 percent, while Ezdan Holding Group was up 3.0 percent.
