Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, in collaboration with Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, has launched the Industrial Ideas Development Program to help entrepreneurs develop business ideas into viable industrial projects in priority sectors.
The two-week program is hosted by the university and focuses on developing value-added industrial projects that can contribute to the growth, sustainability, and competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector.
The program guides participants through the initial stages of project development, from identifying industrial challenges and market opportunities to assessing the commercial potential of their ideas. Participants begin by identifying a specific industrial problem or opportunity, followed by market analysis and the identification of target customers.
They then assess the preliminary feasibility of their ideas and develop product concepts. This process helps participants evaluate market demand and determine whether their proposed solutions have the potential to be developed into practical industrial projects.
The program also includes field visits to several industrial facilities, giving participants the opportunity to gain insights into industrial operations and understand the practical requirements of developing and implementing industrial projects.
The Saudi Industrial Development Fund Academy (SIDF Academy) is contributing to the initiative through its specialized experts, who support participants in developing and refining their ideas and projects. The academy’s involvement provides additional technical and industry expertise during the project development process.
Through the initiative, the ministry and the university strengthen the link between entrepreneurship and industrial development by helping participants identify opportunities within priority sectors and develop them into projects with commercial potential.
The program also supports broader efforts to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship within Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector.
By providing structured guidance, market assessment, and access to industry expertise, the initiative seeks to help entrepreneurs move from the initial stages of idea generation towards developing feasible industrial products and business opportunities.
The focus on priority sectors reflects the Kingdom’s efforts to expand industrial activity, improve competitiveness, and support the long-term sustainability of its industrial base.
