The participation took place through TRENDS Global’s virtual office in Germany, highlighting the organization’s engagement with the academic and research community and its commitment to strengthening international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Ali Abdullah Al Ali, Senior Researcher at TRENDS Research and Advisory, identified three main areas for future cooperation during a panel discussion titled ‘Arab German Research Cooperation’.
These include joint work on global issues such as artificial intelligence and rapidly evolving geopolitical developments, connecting academic research with real-world needs to support decision makers, and building long-term partnerships through joint research, academic, and knowledge-based projects.
Al Ali emphasized the importance of translating ideas and research findings into tangible outcomes that deliver meaningful benefits to academic and research institutions and society at large. Looking ahead to 2040, he expressed optimism that Arab-German research cooperation would grow stronger, more integrated, and more impactful, fostering deeper partnerships between researchers and institutions on both sides.
He also highlighted the importance of ensuring that knowledge generated through these collaborations is effectively applied to address real-world challenges, support sustainable development and improve people’s quality of life.
According to the statement, another key highlight of the conference was the Science Policy Forum on Resilience in Arab-German Research Cooperation, which brought together experts from leading research institutions, academia and government to discuss ways to strengthen scientific collaboration amid evolving global challenges. The discussion focused on how research communities can not only withstand disruptions but also adapt, evolve, and emerge stronger through them.
