Villas continued to lead Qatar’s real estate market, accounting for nearly half of total property sales during the 41st week of 2026, as transactions across sales, mortgages and rentals reflected continued activity in the sector.
The General Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat) reported that real estate sales contracts reached QR458 million during the week from October 4 to 10, with 111 transactions recorded across the country.
According to data released by Aqarat on its account on the social media platform X on Sunday, villas accounted for QR221 million, representing 48.3 percent of total sales. Vacant land ranked second with QR121.2 million, or 26.5 percent, while residential apartments contributed QR37.7 million, accounting for 8.2 percent. Other property types made up the remaining QR78 million, or 17 percent.
The distribution of transactions highlighted the contribution of Qatar’s major real estate centres, with Al Rayyan Municipality leading sales by value at QR166.2 million, closely followed by Doha Municipality at QR165.7 million. Al Daayen ranked third with sales worth QR53.8 million.
Mortgage activity recorded 27 contracts worth QR114.56 million during the week. While the total mortgage value declined compared with the previous week and the corresponding period last year, the number of contracts increased 17.4 percent year on year, indicating a higher volume of mortgage transactions.
Villas dominated mortgage activity, accounting for QR83 million, or 72.8 percent of the total value, while vacant land represented QR31 million, or 27.2 percent.
Doha Municipality led mortgage transactions by value at QR74 million, followed by Al Daayen at QR24 million and Al Wakrah at QR6 million.
The rental market also recorded 400 lease contracts during the week, with a combined value of QR3.04 million. Villas remained the largest contributor, generating QR1.34 million, equivalent to 44.1 percent of total rental value. Apartments followed with QR1.08 million, or 35.5 percent, while commercial showrooms accounted for QR440,000, representing 14.5 percent.
Other property types contributed QR180,000, or 5.9 percent, of the rental value.
Al Rayyan led the rental market with QR1.13 million, followed by Doha Municipality at QR700,000 and Al Wakrah at QR480,000.
The latest figures underline the prominent role of villas in Qatar’s property sales, the concentration of transactions in key municipalities and the continued recording of mortgage and lease contracts across the market.
